IAS-19 Call for Papers – Special session Robots and Intelligent systems for Citizens and the Environment (www.ias-19.org)
You are invited to contribute to the special session Robots and Intelligent Systems for Citizens and the Environment, held in conjunction with the 19th International Conference on Intelligent Autonomous Systems (IAS-19), taking place in Genoa, Italy, from June 30 to July 4, 2025.
Deadline for submission: 15th February, with a high likelihood of being moved forward by 1 or 2 weeks.

Topics of interest
The IAS-10 Special Session on “Robots and intelligent systems for citizens and the environment” gathers contributions from researchers focused on the development of social robots that are expected to have a significant impact on society, both now and in the near future. The special session will explore AI and robotic systems designed to meet the basic needs of people in various areas, including education, healthcare and social assistance for vulnerable populations (such as older adults), emergency management, tourism, entertainment, and more.
Topics of interest encompass all research areas related to the societal impact of robots through their interaction with people. This includes theoretical foundations, mathematical modeling, technological implementation, experimental evaluation, and ethical, legal, philosophical, anthropological, social science, medical, and artistic perspectives on how intelligent robots can transform society.
Review process
All contributed papers will go through a rigorous peer-review process, which will be managed by Editors, Associated Editors, and Reviewers. Each manuscript will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. If a paper will be accepted, the authors should submit a revised final version reflecting reviewers’ comments and present their paper orally and in presence.
All accepted and presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings, and a post-proceedings book will be published by Springer, as is customary for IAS conferences. A limited number of authors will be invited to submit an extended version of their papers for a special issue of Robotics and Autonomous Systems, published by Elsevier.

Workshop on Social Robotics and Intercultural Pedagogy
“Hello, I am Sonrie, and I come from far away!” Robotics in Dialogue with Intercultural Pedagogy
Can a small, socially and culturally competent robot promote inclusion among children from diverse cultural backgrounds?
During the workshop, teachers and educators will have the opportunity to interact directly with the robot and collaboratively design educational intervention strategies through cooperative activities.
This initiative is part of the PRIN 2022 PNRR research project ‘SONRIE’ and will be held at the DIDACTA education trade fair. The workshop will take place in Florence on March 12, 2025.
